When you put a website on the internet, it needs an address — like a street address, but for browsers. There are two ways your site's address can work when you build on a platform like ours:
- A subdomain of ours:
yourbusiness.bigideasconnect.com— think of it like renting a unit in someone else's building. The building has its own name on the outside, and your unit is a smaller address inside it. - Your own domain:
yourbusiness.com— this is your own building, your own name on the sign, even though we're the ones who built and maintain it inside.
Does it hurt your ranking?
Google and AI tools like ChatGPT generally have no trouble finding and reading either kind of address — pages built on our platform are fast, fully-formed HTML the moment they load, with nothing hidden behind code a search engine or AI has to run first. That part is identical either way.
What's different is reputation over time. Having your own domain name looks more credible and gives you full ownership of your own standing online, instead of sharing a reputation with everyone else's site in the same building.
The good news
You don't have to decide right now. You can start on the shared address, and whenever you're ready, we just point your real domain at it — same website, just wearing your own name from then on. And when you do, we automatically redirect the old address to the new one, permanently, so nothing gets left behind or duplicated.
